Privacy Policy
How RacePulse handles data — a clear split between the desktop app (local telemetry) and this website (traffic analytics).
Last updated: July 1, 2026
RacePulse is an independent, free sim racing telemetry overlay tool. This policy explains what happens to data in two separate places: the RacePulse desktop app and the RacePulse website (racepulse.racing). They are not the same, and they are described separately below.
The RacePulse desktop app
No account required
RacePulse does not require an account. There is no sign-up, no login, and no profile. You download the app and run it.
RacePulse does not sell personal data
RacePulse does not sell, rent, or trade personal data to anyone.
Racing telemetry is processed locally
RacePulse processes racing telemetry locally on your device, reading it from your sim’s Windows shared memory or from localhost UDP. RacePulse does not upload racing telemetry, lap times, racing inputs, session recordings, driver names, iRacing IDs, or detailed driving data to RacePulse servers.
Limited app usage analytics
RacePulse does collect limited app usage analytics to understand whether the app is being used and which supported games need the most development attention. This may include app startup events, app version, operating system, supported game detected, and a randomly generated installation ID. The installation ID is not based on hardware information and is used only to measure app usage.
RacePulse may keep limited server logs for security, abuse prevention, rate limiting, and blocking malicious traffic. RacePulse does not use these analytics to collect racing telemetry.
The RacePulse website
The RacePulse website (racepulse.racing) is separate from the desktop app. To understand site traffic, downloads, referrers, browser/device information, approximate location, and product interest, the website uses two analytics tools: GoatCounter and Google Analytics.
What website analytics may collect
Website analytics may include:
- The page URL you visited
- The referrer (the page or site you arrived from)
- Your browser and operating system
- Approximate location (a general region, not a precise location)
- Device information
- Product interest (which pages and features draw attention)
- Interactions such as download clicks
Website analytics are used only to understand traffic to the website. They are not used to collect racing telemetry, and they are never used to sell personal data.
Cookies and identifiers
GoatCounter is used for privacy-focused, aggregate analytics. It does not use tracking cookies.
Google Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers where allowed, or where you have consented.
In regions that require consent for analytics cookies (such as the EU, UK, EEA, and Switzerland), Google Analytics uses consent-aware behavior: it starts in a cookieless, consent-denied mode and only enables full analytics after you accept. Elsewhere, Google Analytics may run full analytics immediately.
For more detail, see the Analytics & Cookies notice.
Third-party services
RacePulse links to third-party services, such as GitHub (for downloads) and Ko-fi (for optional support). When you follow those links, you interact with those services directly, and they have their own privacy policies that govern how they handle your data.
Controlling analytics
You can block website analytics using:
- Your browser’s privacy settings
- Cookie controls or consent choices
- An ad blocker or content blocker
- Firewall rules
If the analytics consent banner is enabled, Google Analytics only loads after you choose Accept analytics. You can change that choice at any time from the Analytics & Cookies page.
